Ajax’s Pumpkinville 2015

It’s been a while since the sun attended Ajax’s annual Pumpkinville festival, but lucky for us, it came in full force this Saturday!

Anyone who reads my blog knows, Pumpkinville is one of my favourite community events! This year, my mom and I went to get our free pumpkins, and enjoyed a wagon ride around Greenwood Conservation Area. We also entered a draw for an autumn-themed Mickey Mouse, but I don’t think we won him. That’s okay, I took a photo!

Octobers: a visit to Pingles Farm Market

One of the things I love most about the Fall is the beautiful colours.

This past weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada, and after our turkey-induced comas, my cousin and I decided to go to Pingles Farm Market in Oshawa, and explore the pumpkin patch. Holiday Monday was incredibly busy on the farm, but it offered some fun family-fall activities, like wagon rides, baked goods and fresh fruits. And of course, your choice of pumpkin!

Here’s a little fall cheer for your October! Hope you have some time to get out and enjoy the weather and colours before it’s gone.

Last year, I also spent some time at Pingles Farm Market. Click here to see my previous photos.

Good ol’ fashion Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow (Monday) is technically Thanksgiving, but today I celebrated it with my family.

My parents prepared a great meal: turkey, rice, veggies, and pumpkin pie for dessert! Yum yum! We also watched Disney’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Charlie Brown’s The Great Pumpkin after we finished our lunch.

And as always, I documented the day. Here is our 2015 Thanksgiving family portrait. Hope you all have a special day with loved ones, or are spending it in a meaningful way.

SWAK for Heart

Newmarket’s Upper Canada Mall is asking you to pucker up, kiss something, and hashtag it #SWAKForHeart.

The Sealed with a Kiss (SWAK) campaign runs from now until Valentine’s Day, and for every post shared to Twitter or Instagram, Upper Canada will donate $1 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

February is Heart Month. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, heart disease and stroke takes one life every seven minutes and 90 per cent of Canadians have at least one risk factor.

If you’re looking for a fun Valentine’s colour, Upper Canada suggests: Russian Red, Ruby Woo, Lady Danger or Viva Glam by Miley Cyrus — you can find those at your local MAC Cosmetics store.

Personally, my favourites are Lady Danger (a classic, matte, retro orange-red), and Viva Glam by Miley Cyrus (bright, amplified creme, gloss-like pink).

Any other suggestions?

Ajax’s Pumpkinville 2014

For the third year in a row, it was another rainy Pumpkinville in the Town of Ajax. But that didn’t stop me, or hundreds of other residents from packing Greenwood Conservation area for the annual Hallowe’en event, last Saturday.

This year, we took part in the free family train ride, grabbed our pumpkins (which were seriously so heavy!) courtesy of Loblaws, warmed up with Pumpkin Patch tea, and enjoyed the smell of roasting marshmallows.

Other activities included a haunted house, trick-or-treat bag decorating, and a magic show.

Pumpkinville is my favourite event put on by the town. If you missed my post from last year, click here to check it out.
