I first discovered Fountain of Youth Yoga in Whitby after meeting with Penny McQueen – the owner and founder of the company. One of the most wonderful things about Penny, and it’s obvious once you chat with her, is her kindness and passion for yoga. She really cares for her clients – whether it be those already fit, those on a personal journey, or even those just checking out her studio for information.
I’ve only ever attended one yoga class in my life and I injured myself terribly. Ever since then, I’ve been scared to try it out again. But in the coming months, I’d like to begin my journey to better health and I’m sure I’ll be calling Penny for advice. I think it might be an interesting and strengthening activity – did I also mention I am the least flexible person you’ll ever meet?
Anyhow, I know it is hard to choose a yoga studio these days because there are so many options available to us. But if you’re from Whitby, I suggest visiting this downtown yoga studio. I am sure Penny will guide you and monitor your form properly, so you don’t walk away with an injury … like I did once upon a time.
If I didn’t have such bad knees, Emily, I’d want to do Yoga, too. Instead, I keep saying I’d like to try Tai Chi. I just need to do it. I bet Penny was delighted to see your interest, photgraphically as well!
I am going to be covering another local Yoga place, Ginnie. I have a bad back myself, but I think there must be some classes for those of us not quite that advanced. I am going to find out!
I probably need to do some Yoga or some stretching. It would alleviate some of the tension and stress from my long shifts at work but there are no studios where I live. I tend to do yard work for that, although the weather has not been very cooperative lately. Just visiting from http://www.feelingtheemptynest.blogspot.com and hope you have a great day!
Thanks Nicky. I think we all just need to find an activity we enjoy! And I think a lot of people find strength both mentally and physically from yoga. I tried to head over to your blog, but it looks like the link doesn’t work? Did you type it in wrong?
Great photos. Found your article very informative. Can understand how you can get hurt if you are not guided properly,no matter what the physical activity. If this is the end result of what yoga can do for you, how wonderful. Shows both strength and grace.
Agreed! Looks like a lot of time is spent just building strength for these types of poses.
refreshing 🙂
Thanks Joshi!
This is a great post Emily. I love the last photo. I have been getting back into a yoga routine lately because it just really helps me both mentally and physically. Sorry you had a bad experience with it.
I have yet to really get back into yoga. I am looking at all my options, but I really do want to try it out again.
