I am a huge fan of Niagara vineyards, but this summer I had the opportunity to try something a bit outside my comfort zone from Kawartha Country Wines – an amazing experience, to say the least!
I am no wine connoisseur, but I’m generally a fan of Moscato and Riesling wines. Kawartha Country Wines offers a variety of fruit wines, suiting just about any tastebud – sour, sweet to very sweet.
I suggest hitting up the taste bar – they let us try four wines and four fruit vinegars.
My favourites were the Rhubarb Off Dry (which I bought); it’s described as, “Delicate and fresh … with a subtle taste.” I also savoured a bottle of Wild Blueberry Social, which is “A fruity blueberry nose leads to a pleasantly sweet, smooth and velvety wine with a bold blueberry flavour and notes of candied fruit.”
Chances are, you’ll be hitting up the cottage this season. I’d schedule some time there; stock up for the family parties or the camping adventures. Not only are the wines great, they have a lot of local-made products, and the service was phenomenal: personable and friendly. I would go back just for the great conversation! It’s a 15 minute drive from Bobcaygeon. Click here for more information.
Great photos ! You really do find some wonderful places! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
It was a great place, especially for people who aren’t huge fans of wines … because these were very fruity.
Aww… the dog is so cute!
Is it a cockapoo?
I’d love to have one 🙂
To be honest, they did tell me what kind of dog … but i totally forget. So cute, though. Shy at first, but then warms up to you! 🙂
I’d try anyrthing with rhubarb in it, Emily. HA. And beer soap? That would be a great stocking stuffer. 🙂
It really is, Ginnie! I think supporting local business is better than hitting up a big company … we need these cute unique things 🙂
cool place the great feel 🙂
Thanks Joshi!
great post! loved all your shots. seems like your canine friend had a bit too many drinks 😉
Hahaha thanks!! The dog was super sweet 🙂 I think all the stress of people roaming about was a bit tiresome. 😛
Thank you Emily for the great blog post! This is Eva from Kawartha Country Wines. We love your photos and we appreciate your nice words. We hope you can come back this summer! Also the dog is a Bouvier Poodle Cross. We have a new friend for her, a lab cross named Cooper!
