Toronto Christmas Market

It was my first year checking out The Toronto Christmas Market, located in the historic Distillery District. Going into its fourth year, the event is known for its array of beautiful lights, tasty vendors and family-fun Christmas entertainment.

With a hot cocoa in hand, the weather was perfect for an evening stroll through the village. The smell of poutine filled the air, and fine chocolates along with hand-painted ornaments lined the streets.

We had the chance to meet up with an angel (pictured below), along with a couple of Santa’s elves. Ol’ Saint Nick even gave us a shout out as he made his grand entrance.

Truly an evening for the Christmas enthusiast. And with only 21 days left until the big day, I must say … The Toronto Christmas Market really brought out my excitement! If you’re interested in popping by, the event runs until December 15. Click here for more information.

Let it snow

It’s just past midnight. I waited up to see the snow fall; the first significant snowfall of the season. We’re expecting around 4 centimetres overnight. If this weather holds up, I’ll be out snapping photos of the town all day tomorrow!

A lot of people dread the white stuff, but I have come to love it. This time of year always brings back such great memories of sledding, building snowmen and making snow angels. Now that I’m older, it’s nights like these that I look forward to; the beauty of a late evening snow dusting. I hope you are all enjoying the sights, as well.

New Christmas Ornament

You know you have the best parents when you spend a whole evening at work, and you come home to find a brand new Christmas ornament in your bedroom.

Now, I am a Christmas enthusiast. I was in the holiday spirit before Hallowe’en. And if you know me well, you know that I love decorations and holiday-themed Build-A-Bears. Last night, as the first snow fall swept through our town, I came home to find the Santa Claus from “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” ready to place on the tree. Needless to say, I was pretty excited. It is my first NEW decoration of the season!

Ajax’s Pumpkinville

Ajax’s Pumpkinville is my favourite autumn event. For the past few years, it’s taken place at Greenwood Conservation Area, just off of Westney Road. Not only do they offer a wide array of food, but their Halloween/Fall activities are great. For the children, there’s a hay stack, a haunted house, hayrides, face painting and they also offer guided hikes through the park. This year I tried my first Beaver Tail — just a bite. Now, I wasn’t a huge fan of it, but I’m told it’s a yummy treat for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Unfortunately, there was kind of a downside to the event … it was raining. A lot. However, it didn’t stop hundreds of people from turning out. We stayed for about three hours, before it downpoured. We were given free Halloween pencils (I have the cat one, of course) and we got to walk away with a free pumpkin donated by Loblaws.

Also, be sure to check out my friend Kate-Lynn’s Pumpkinville photos. She had some amazing ones!

Pickering Farmer’s Market

The Pickering Farmer’s Market has been one of my favourites this year. It’s smaller than Peterborough’s, but much larger than’s Stoffville’s. It has a great selection; a lot of fresh fruits, veggies, pastries and bread. The market has a number of other booths, as well. Creative Math and Music was on site, and there was a couple of really neat soap vendors, all with hand made and natural products. I ended up buying a fantastic passionfruit bar; it lathers well and is made using essential oils.

The Pickering Farmer’s Market ran in the Pickering Town Centre’s parking lot, but has since wrapped up for the season. But I’d suggest looking up their vendors, and seeing if you can order products online. For example, Carberry Soaps hosts soap making classes year round!
