Smithers, BC (#Canada150 Pt. 2)

From Jasper, we headed north to British Columbia via the Yellowhead Highway. Our first night car camping when we reached Smithers, B.C.

We climbed the Hudson Bay Mountain, in search of a Smithers Street Piano — which we eventually found back in town (RE: It’s a flying piano).

That was a hard climb, though, at least for me.

  1. A couple of years ago, we had this street piano thing all over London too!
Now, they’re all gone… I wonder if they have been taken to BC?!

    1. Really?? That is so cool. Apparently, they used a helicopter to initially bring this piano up the mountain, but had to bring it back down cause of the water weather running it! Maybe this is a new trend with companies? It’s pretty awesome πŸ™‚

  2. I’ve actually heard of Yellowhead Highway. Car camping sounds fun to me. I know that might sound weird but I love adventure. I’m sure it would be been hard to climb for me also. I love all your pictures especially your selfies πŸ™‚ That piano is pretty cool, I wonder if they do this in the states.

    1. I am sure there are initiatives like this all over the place, I was kinda bummed the piano was moved, but I can totally understand the weather up there can be brutal

  3. A street piano has got to be a pianist’s dream. My mom was a pianist and would have loved finding a piano outside to play while traveling, I’m sure. I wonder who keeps them tuned (a full-time job, I’m sure)?

    1. I wondered that as well, Ginnie! But it did sound a bit out-of-tune when I tried to play (I’m not expert) but definitely a cool sight to see πŸ™‚

    1. I am sorry to hear this — I hope you’re staying safe. I thought of all the people who will be searching for refuge from these fires. πŸ™

  4. The piano photo of you with the children is really sweet!Looks like you were having fun on this part of your adventure.
