Steve Martin and Peppermint tea

It’s pretty rainy at home in Ajax, today. So, what better way to spend time than with a mug of peppermint tea and a handful of Steve Martin books. Mr. Martin is one of my favourite authors – actually, one of the only authors I truly enjoy.

Below you will see my collection of books, ranging from his autobiography, screenplays, the famous Shopgirl novella and Cruel Shoes – one of my go-to funny books … something I would love him to sign one day. I found it in a used bookstore many years ago and my Dad bought it for me for about $20. Now, it retails on Amazon for almost $200 new.

You’ll also see his newest release, The Ten, Make That Nine, Habits of Very Organized People. Make That Ten. It’s a very tiny book, that had me digging through what seemed like giant books just to find it! But it’s cute … and contains the tweets and tweet conversations of Steve Martin. A quick and quite fun dialogue to read.

  1. I love peppermint tea, but I don’t think I like Steve Mart as much. I really liked his older movies in the late 80s and 90s, like Father of the Bride (the first one). Great post, what a wonderful way to start your morning. The photos are superb as always.

    1. Father of the Bride always makes me cry … but I have also enjoyed his more recent stuff. I loved Shopgirl, especially since I loved the book, and THE BIG YEAR … I’ve watched that way too many times to keep count.

  2. Hi Emily
i have followed Steve Martin from his days in stand up comedy on SNL through to his fist big film “The Jerk”…my favorite :-)… i haven’t read his books but it’s on my bucket list now…
i like your snowman tea cup….peter:)

    1. That’s great, Peter. If you love him as an actor, I personally find him an ever better writer of that’s possible.

    1. Oh yes, Otto. He’s been writing and publishing for many years. You will love his work. Let me know if you do check some of it out.
