Welcome, 2020

Welcome, 2020. As usual, I have seemed pretty absent from my blog — I wonder if anyone will even check this?

It is important for me to continue my blog in the new year because it was created out of love and a passion for photography. I was recently gifted with a new iMac, and it will be perfect to help me continue this website … hopefully posting more each week.

Saying goodbye to 2019 was filled with mixed emotions. I had to say a final farewell to my cat Jimmy Dean. Following a mini stroke, JD struggled through the last few months of his life. Anyone who has visited this blog since its inception, would know JD was the inspiration for many of my posts and was always present in different holiday, crafts and “just because” entries. He was a very important part of my life. I still struggle to realize he is gone from this world. No other soul will be as special or unique as his.

As I begin 2020, I have many goals (as we all do). But it really is to say committed to my blog and photography. Time never stops, and photos are my way of visiting precious memories from the past.

I hope you will still join me.

All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.

Just because

It’s almost midnight on this quiet night. I know I’ve been taking a break from blogging these past few weeks, but for good reason. I’ve found myself caught up with work and improvement meetings. With the goals I’ve set out for myself, now has become a crucial time for me to get better, and soon move onto new opportunities and adventures. To be honest, I don’t think my camera batteries are even charged right now. But I did want to share a small post – something meaningful and something that makes me happy. Of course when I think happiness, I think Jimmy Dean. Yes, I get it. I may possess a “crazy cat lady” vibe, but I can’t think of anything that makes me smile as much as this little man.

I was “digging” through some old photos, and I came across this one taken a few years ago. I always make him pose with me for webcam photos … but you know what, even though his eyes seem to say “SAVE ME”, his heart is REALLY saying, “I love you too, Emily.”

Words to live by? I think so.

There’s a world out there

My 3-year-old tabby cat Jimmy Dean is a beautiful, quirky, and energetic thing. He’s constantly getting himself into trouble – stealing jewelry, unravelling toilet paper, and chewing on television cords.

But I’m never mad at him for long. It’s hard to stay angry at a face like this.
